The University of Medical Sciences and Technology (UMST) is one of Sudan's most prominent private universities and a widely recognised name in medical education across the region. It was founded in 1995 by Professor Mamoun Homeida, a distinguished physician who had served as vice-chancellor of the University of Khartoum and later as Minister of Health for Khartoum State, and it enrolled its first students in 1996.
